Chartered Engineer · Solar PV & Battery Storage
I'm a chartered engineer with over fifteen years in electrical engineering, the last decade of it in solar PV and battery storage. I currently lead engineering for a solar and BESS project pipeline at a major UK renewables developer, having previously worked across concept design, grid connections and project development for schemes ranging from a few megawatts to gigawatt-scale portfolios.
PVxp started with the small, repetitive jobs that fill a solar engineer's week: laying out PV arrays in AutoCAD, comparing PVsyst reports line by line, manual design optioneering and capacity estimation. I built tools to speed up my own workflow, and this site is where I share them.
The other half of PVxp is the writing. Topics like meteorological dataset selection, yield uncertainty, and design trade-offs get surprisingly little open discussion in our industry — most of that knowledge lives inside companies as house rules. The articles here are my attempt to put more of it in the open, based on real project experience rather than vendor material.
